Feng shui practitioner’s primary choice of feng shui practice is in the area of the fly stars compass school or the four pillars of destiny. These feng shui studies are all interrelated but there is the dimension factor that is not always practiced. The reason the dimensional factor is not discussed or rarely brought up is because the influencing object (chair, table bed, bed room …etc) is complex and tedious to calculate and may requires a replacement if it’s dimension is inauspicious. This could be an expensive process or impractical ( ie shortening a room size). However, if a practitioner has the option to choose his furniture what rule should he follow? Like wise, if he or she wishes to design a custom build house, what dimension should be use in each room? When measuring an object, it is important that the object’s footing is secured and solid. The measurement should therefore start at the base and work upwards. The footing is essential for holding the entire solid object and therefore the bulk of the energy will resides there. It is also the connection point to another solid object and could channel auspicious property from the surrounding environment via the floor. For the purpose of this research let’s consider measuring a study table. The recommended leg’s width and thickness should be within the “Cai” quadrant (less than 5.37cm) to promote wealth. The height of the leg connecting to the based of the table top should be in the “Ben” (between 80.55cm to 85.92cm) quadrant to promote long term prosperity. The bearer which connects the 4 legs should have a thickness within the “Cai” quadrant and its length to be in the “Kuan” (between 64.44cm to 69.81cm) quadrant to promote knowledge and wisdom. The table top which disburses the energy width should be in the “Ben” (between 80.55cm to 85.92cm) quadrant and the length should be in the “Kuan” (153.60cm – 155.73cm or 193.32cm – 198.69cm) quadrant. This combined quadrant will promote knowledge, wisdom and inherits long term prosperity to the occupant. [html]
1. Office table and chair.

An office’s furniture main items are the table which holds the computer and the chair which support the recipient. A good dimensioned table could inspire the user with good creativities to create wealths while a well supported chair with good dimension could bring growth and prosperity.

In my research, I’ve found the most common desk length to be 160cm long and 80cm wide with a standard height of 75cm. These dimensions are inauspicious and according to the quadrants within the foot, these dimensions are inauspicious and may prevent creative thoughts or unproductive activities.

Remediation: Going out and buying a new desk is not always practical so the alternative is to alter the perception of the desk. Once way to do this is to use a black sticky tape to reduce the visual size of the desk to an auspicious size and further disburse the negative energy by hanging a bamboo flute below the desk.

The chair is important and it is recommended that the chair have good solid back support with 2 arm rests on either side. The chair’s footing must be solid. One way to test this is to do a shake test and listen to the squeaky noise. An unbalanced chair will have some squeaky noise while a solid chair will have good support. Keeping in mind the over all height dimension of the back rest, the length of the arm rest and height of the base chair.
